Access

Access routes must be always kept clear and free from obstructions.

Properly constructed ramps must be provided at entrances, ensuring a maximum height of 225mm below the internal floor level. No step from any location or equipment, such as the base of scaffold staircases, is to exceed 225mm. It is good practice to create plot ramps when forming scaffold margins around plots, helping to clearly identify doorways allowing scaffolders to accurately position standards.

Holes or openings must be adequately protected.

General lighting levels must be sufficient around the workplace.

Unobstructed plot access through scaffolding must be provided.

Ground conditions caused by adverse weather (e.g., ice, snow, puddles) must be suitably managed.

Temporary floor coverings must be secured properly and kept in neat order, with fire retardant material used as necessary.

Wet or slippery floors must be managed by isolation, proper signage, and prompt cleaning.

Minor changes in floor level must be managed and highlighted.

The base of stairs or ladders must be free of debris or stacked materials, and steps must not exceed 225mm.
Out of bounds areas must be physically blocked off and clearly marked with signage.

Internal studwork sole plates must not be fitted without studs or uprights in place to indicate their presence.
