Access platform decking systems (Trad Deck, G Deck, Safe Deck etc.)

A comprehensive installation guide must be provided for every system selected for use.
Installers must be competent to install, adjust, or dismantle a system which is to be evidenced by having attended the FASET Access Platform Decking Installers course, which includes system-specific training.

To be considered competent for installing, inspecting, altering, and safely dismantling the Access Platform Decking System, the operative must have been GSA-4 assessed and possess a Blue Skilled Worker CSCS Card with an Access Platform Decking Installer endorsement. Trainees must be supervised by a Blue Carded Installer.

All systems must undergo a post-erection inspection and handover by a competent installer. This inspection must be documented and include information on the system's load capacity for users.
Before each use, the system must be visually inspected to ensure it remains fit for purpose according to the manufacturer’s installation guide.

Additionally, the system and its components must be inspected every 7 days, as well as after any incident, alterations, or adverse weather conditions that might compromise structural integrity.
Inspections must be carried out by a competent person, evidenced by holding a Blue Skilled Worker CSCS Card in Access Platform Decking or a valid FASET Access Platform Decking for Managers certificate.

All inspections must be recorded.

If the system is found to be defective or altered, it must be taken out of service until the issues are rectified.
