Automated fire detection
Wireless systems must be Class 1 radio linked and manufactured to EN54 standards.
Implement automated detection in buildings where materials that add to fire loading are stored.
Smoke detection at ceiling level within all temporary accommodations must be linked to the project fire alarm.
All automatic fire detection systems must be compatible with the chosen fire alarm systems.
Install automated heat detection, linked to the fire alarm system, horizontally on the landing of every timber frame plot (max. 9m above ground level) attached to the roof timbers/trusses until final cladding is installed. It is recommended detectors are positioned in the loft hatch area to avoid moving during boarding. Use a weatherproof cover if installed before the plot is weatherproof.
Access control systems, such as turnstiles, should interface with fire alarms to allow free exit during a fire. If integration is not possible, alternative methods must be effectively managed by the site team.
