Electricity and gas

All electrical installations must comply with BS 7671 and the Electricity at Work Regulations.

Portable electric equipment must be regularly inspected, tested, and clearly labelled with inspection dates.

Electric cabling should be adequately protected from potential damage.

Temporary lighting must be kept away from combustible materials, with sealed fluorescent tubes being recommended.

A dedicated area must be provided for battery charging to avoid ad hoc charging practices.

Only genuine chargers and batteries should be used to prevent fire hazards.

Main electrical switches should be turned off when not in use to reduce risks.

Photovoltaic panels must be installed according to specifications and isolated during construction.

Permanent gas supplies must be installed by registered gas installers, with gas appliances connected via fixed piping or armoured tubing.

Gas cylinders must be stored outside, secured, and protected from interference.
