Emergency procedures
Establish a proportionate means of warning of fire on all projects, with alarms that are loud, distinctive, and continuous.
Install permanent alarm systems as soon as possible; manual fire bells are not permitted.
Conduct weekly tests and 6 monthly inspections of alarm systems.
Written emergency procedures must be prominently displayed, clearly identifying assembly points.
All workers must be aware of these procedures.
Establish suitable emergency assembly points, including secondary points if necessary.
Conduct evacuation drills at least every 3 months, or following significant changes, and ensure emergency routes remain unobstructed and clearly marked.
Fire doors and emergency lighting must be regularly checked.
Develop Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) for employees with special needs.
