Plant and vehicles
Stationary plant with internal combustion engines should be in open air or well-ventilated enclosures, away from combustible materials.
Refuelling of plant and vehicles must only take place in designated areas, and engines must be turned off and allowed to cool before refuelling.
Compressors should be housed separately to minimise fire risk.
Plant and equipment must be protected from impact, with air intakes kept free from flammable gases.
Sand trays or similar non-combustible absorbent agents should be provided to capture fuel or lubricant drips, with regular replacement.
Long term vehicle parking should be away from buildings, with a separate parking area for workers' vehicles. Vehicles should only park within 10 meters of a building for unloading or reloading.
