Stored materials

Combustible materials should be stored outside buildings under construction, ideally in locked metal containers.

Internal storage areas must have controlled access, be located away from hot work areas, be covered by fire detection systems or subject to regular checks, have firefighting equipment nearby, and must not be under staircases or escape routes.

Roof storage should be limited to materials for immediate use and must be subject to a fire risk assessment if unavoidable.
