MEWP

MEWP operators must provide valid proof of training, e.g., CPCS or IPAF.

When selecting MEWPS consider height, general space restrictions and ground conditions, and other obstructions (particularly overhead to prevent trapping/crushing injuries)

Any operative inside the basket must wear a suitable harness attached to the designated anchor points provided at all times.

Robust exclusion zones must be in place around all MEWP operations whilst the basket is at height.

Consideration of dropped objects must be given with a focus on containment of equipment within the basket using basket protectors for example.

Proprietary handling equipment for MEWPs should be considered, such as pipe cradles or panel or board carriers. Note any accessory added to a MEWP will impact the SWL and wind rating of the machine - always check with the provider.

The MEWP is to have a current 6 month thorough examination certificate provided with the machine and a lifting equipment register is to be provided for proof of an inspection regime by a competent person.
