Open stairwell protection

MK (or similar approved proprietary systems) edge protection with a minimum 100mm toeboard of suitable material (timber) must be correctly fitted around open stairwells.

Makeshift edge protection is not permitted.

Ensure the chosen system is assembled correctly

Always connect rails from the working surface towards the void

Ensure the anti-luce blades are in the upright position to lock the rails in place.

Replace all rails immediately after loading materials.

Studwork with vertical centres greater than 450mm against open stairwells must be protected until boarded. Permanent horizontal noggins or appropriate suitable temporary surface mounted rails should be fitted to at least halve the gap between the flooring and the board noggin (typically fitted around 1200mm).
