Roof voids

Whenever possible avoid working in roof voids by working from below or by designing equipment that can be lifted in during roof assembly, e.g. PV platforms.

Walking on and working from ceiling cords and floor joists is forbidden.

Ceilings must not be boarded until all work that can be completed from below, such as plumbing and electrical installations, is finished.

Where work in roof voids is unavoidable, activities must be conducted under strict protocols, including;
• use of appropriate, secure temporary platforms,
• authorisation from Lovell site management by way of a permit to work,
• team working,
• adequate lighting.
• safe and secure access into the void is provided.
