Temporary hole and void protection
Holes and penetrations in floors, roofs, risers, and other areas must be safeguarded to prevent objects that could cause injury from falling through.
Protection must be made of robust material and secured in place with clear signage, such as "Hole Below - Do Not Remove," and must indicate the safe working load (SWL) if applicable.
If proprietary systems are not used, or if the area could support people, plant, or equipment, temporary works design is required for protection covers exceeding 200mm x 200mm.
Temporary hole and void protection must be visually checked daily and formally inspected weekly, or more frequently if necessary, with records maintained in our work equipment register.
The removal and reinstatement of hole and void protection must be planned, and risk assessed.
